There was a road established in 1839-1840 on the north side of the Canadian River that was also named the Fort Smith to Santa Fe Trail. Marcy named his route the Fort Smith to Santa Fe Trail. When the expedition approached the Minco area they kept to the south side of Buggy Creek, which Marcy named "Deer Creek". Marcy was ordered to escort 1,500 individuals headed to the California gold fields. The first expedition was conducted by Captain Randolph B. īefore the establishment of Minco as a town, three major expeditions passed through the area. His wife was Miss Maggie (Margaret) Williams, a daughter of W. Campbell owned the occupancy rights of the land that the town was built on. In its early stages, Minco was a very busy town because of its location at the end of the Chicago, Rock Island & Pacific Railroad until the railroad was extended further south two years later. Minco was officially settled sometime circa 1890, several years before Oklahoma achieved statehood. The town was originally included in the Chickasaw Nation, and is believed to be named after the great Chickasaw chief and warrior, Itawamba Minco, who later acquired the name of Levi Colbert, and who resided on Chickasaw land in Mississippi, near Cotton Gin Port. After the Rock Island extended its railroad track to the Chisholm Trail, the town physically moved to the end of the rail line and renamed itself Minco. It was approximately 7 miles (11 km) east of the present-day location. The community was initially a collection of tents housing Caddo, Wichita, Kiowa, and Comanche tribesmen. Present-day Minco began as a settlement named Silver City on the Chisholm Trail. The population was 1,500 at the 2020 census, a 8.1% decrease from 2010. Minco is a city in Grady County, Oklahoma, United States.

Memory loss is usually the first symptom of age-related cognitive decline. No one likes the idea of ageing, and while many take issue with the changes in the mirror, it’s the loss of cognitive function that can really terrify a person. Having a “Senior’s Moment”? In his public remarks and his proposed budget for the 2024 fiscal year, President Joe Biden is certainly insistent about the need for a permanent answer to child-care funding. Read: The reason child care is so hard to afford No other country makes it work without a major investment from government.” ![]() As Annie Lowrey wrote last year, “The math does not work. ![]() The system desperately needs a large infusion of permanent public money so that programs can compensate educators well, parent fees can be slashed, and supply can rise to meet demand. Centers have shut down for want of staff, long waitlists have stretched to the point of absurdity, and the rising cost of care continues to exceed inflation. In fact, the industry is still down more than 50,000 employees from pre-pandemic levels. In other words, child care simultaneously is too expensive for parents and brings in too little revenue for programs to operate sustainably. Child-care providers have very high fixed costs due to the need for low child-to-adult ratios, so they can’t pay their staff well without significantly increasing parent fees (many child-care workers make less than parking attendants). The instinct to make for any policy port in a storm is understandable, and the American child-care system is stuck in a years-long hurricane. Since Joe Manchin and 50 Republican senators killed the bill, however, many policy makers have started following a tired old playbook: If at first you fail to make something a universal right, try making it an employee benefit. This overhaul would have put child care squarely in the same category as Social Security, Medicare, and other guaranteed supports: It would have, in other words, become a right. The act also would have capped all but the wealthiest families’ child-care bills at 7 percent of their income. When the House of Representatives passed the Build Back Better Act in 2021, it included $400 billion in funding, part of which would have paid programs enough to boost providers’ wages, in turn increasing the supply of available slots. I, too, am looking to replace Bento without having to go the FileMaker route. I found this thread doing a Google search. I told him at their next meeting to please mention that there were a lot of folks who used/loved Bento and with the Mac-base ever growing, they should give a thought to a new, consumer-scaled product. After the customer service guy told me they haven't supported Bento in a long time, which I knew, he was kind enough to dig up my registration. Something most developers hate to run into and try to avoid like the plague. What's your favorite git tip? Is there a better way to do this that I don't know about? What's the deal with airline food? Ask me anything in that comments box down there.Whenever I see the word conflict when using Git, it feels very intimidating and scary. Thanks for reading! Keep reaching for those stars. I hope this makes your git branching a little smoother. This form will do the rebase but will only take the commits up to (and including). Turns out, the git rebase -onto form takes a third argument, which is the ending commit: git rebase -onto. ![]() We have this:Īnd we want to move the entire tree with feature-1 and feature-2 to be based off master.Īnd you want to rebase such that feature-1 is based off of master, but only contains commits i, j, k, and l. Now, we circle back to our original problem. If you're not sure, find the first commit you want to move, then look for its parent. Remember, we're working with bases, not with the commits to be moved. ☞ A common mistake is to set to the first commit you're trying to move- g, in the previous example. No problemo: just set the new base to master and the old base to g. After the rebase, we want feature-1 to be based off of master but only contain commits h and i. This time, though, commit g is no good and we want to omit it. We want to rebase feature-1 off of master. Suppose we have the same git history as in our last example: Now that we have -onto in our toolbelt, we can use it to solve more complicated rebase problems. git rebase master is just shorthand for git rebase -onto master, where git automatically determines for us based on the most common use case. This looks exactly the same as when we did git rebase master. What is the old base? To find that, we need to trace through feature-1 and find where feature-1 intersects with master. It has the form git rebase -onto, where is the current base of the tree we want to move. The -onto option allows us to specify both the old and new bases. We need to be able to tell git both.Įnter the -onto option. This simple form receives the new base, but we can't provide it with the old base-git calculates that for us. This works perfectly for simple cases, but it can't help us with our original problem. to reflect that these are actually different commits with different SHAs, even though the content of each is the same.) If we check out feature-1 and run git rebase master, git will find feature-1's base-which is b-and change it to be the commit at master- which is f: git-rebase works on the current HEAD (which is almost always the currently checked out branch), so this form takes the current branch and changes its base to be the commit at. The simplest way to do this (and the form everyone knows) is git rebase. In other words, we move it to somewhere else in the history. To rebase, then, is to take a commit (or series of commits) and change its base. A commit's base is its previous (or parent) commit. The important thing here is the word base. If we check the docs for git-rebase, we get the following definition: Reapply commits on top of another base tip The first thing we need to understand is what a rebase even is. ![]() Take my hand and let's go on a trip through git rebase and unearth the secrets. How can we get there? Usually, I solve this in a couple of workable but tedious and annoying ways. What we ultimately want to end up with is this: ![]() We can't fix it by rebasing feature-2 off feature-1. We can see j, k, l, and m like we expect, but we still have g, h, and i in there. It has its commits, plus the feature-1 commits that were just rebased. Now, I check my git tree and uh-oh! feature-2 is all busted. When feature-1 is approved, I rebase it off master to prepare for merging. While I'm waiting for approval, I want to start working on a new feature, so I create a new feature branch off of feature-1-let's call that one feature-2. ![]() I have a feature branch in code review-let's call it feature-1. Let me tell you about a problem I sometimes have. ![]() It was published in the mid-1990s, and we were both disappointed that it didn't get more attention. ![]() It is as close to a memoir as he'll ever write.
